Operations Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Operations Manager will oversee warehousing operations, manage warehouse employees, company safety processes, and oversee scheduling, invoicing, and that all company SOP's are being followed. The role will also be responsible to manage KPI's to ensure all goals are being met.


This position will ensure correct and timely loading of semi's and bobtails, while providing warehouse work scheduling for drivers before and after deliveries. The role will also work with Director of Drivers & Delivery to guarantee accurate orders, on time deliveries, and customer satisfaction.


The Operations Manager will also work with Maintenance Manager to ensure all warehouse equipment is fully functional and operating at peak efficiencies.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Manage operations and ensure a safe, clean, and orderly warehouse.

  • Communicate and coordinate timely receiving, organization, and storage of products in warehouse.

  • Manage inventory levels and ensure accuracy.

  • Ensure proper loading, timely departures, and delivery of semi's and bobtails.

  • Ensures safe handling and proper documentation of breakage.

  • Ensure proper loading, timely departures, and deliveries of semi's and bobtails.

  • Research and apply corrective actions for shortages, refusals, filling errors, not-on-trucks, missed deliveries, breakage, and incorrect invoices.

  • Work cross-functionally with the Director of Drivers and Delivery and the sales teams to resolve and eliminate internal and external customer concerns.

  • Manages warehouse company safety processes.

  • Develop and manage warehouse KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) that drive results to improve safety, productivity, internal and external customer service and satisfaction.

  • Ensure downloads match customer invoices.

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate quarterly / annual warehouse inventories in Morgan Hill and any 3rd party storage facility.

  • Direct transfers of 3rd party inventory to Morgan Hill as needed.

  • Coordinate inter-company transfers of inventory between Morgan Hill and Chino warehouses.

  • Promote ongoing best-in-class customer service throughout all positions in warehouse operations.




Accountability:

  • This position is required to serve as information resources for, and conduits between the field and the company's management.

  • This position is accountable for 5 Warehouse supervisors and 9 leads.

  • This position will have 103 employees reporting to subordinate supervisors.

  • This position is required to hire, to use corrective action, to terminate, and to handle employee relations issues.


Accountable for forecasting finances and budgets with a budget of $75-85 million and an operating cost of



EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university with a concentration in Business or in related fields.



  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an operations or warehouse manager

  • Experience in managing union and non-union employees, including grievances, arbitrations, and contract negotiations.




COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position will require the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. This role also will require the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. This position will further require the ability to effectively present information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This role will require the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. This position will require the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY: This position will require the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. This role also will require the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:



  • Lean Six Sigma, or similar training

  • Certified Production & Inventory Management (CPIM)




SKILLS/ABILITIES :

  • Proficient in Windows environment and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) environment.

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

  • Must have working knowledge of Federal and Cal OSHA regulations.

  • Must have excellent communication skills / both formal and informal.

  • Must have ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Must possess continuous improvement mindset.

  • Thorough understanding of warehouse cost structure.

  • Able to interpret cost build up, trends, and monthly financial reports.

  • Highly collaborative leadership style.

  • Exceptional project management skills.

  • Ability to multitask.
