Primarily responsible for the "backend" technologies used in web application development. This role uses advanced database programming techniques to implement complex business requirements. Configures and maintains high performance and high availability database servers with large data storage needs. Builds architecture for realtime data replication and offline mirroring. Processes data to make it available to Advertising web applications through a set of defined procedure calls. Works with development team to determine data needs of applications. Studies new technologies and introduces and promotes useful solutions to the rest of the team. Responsible for task delegation and bug tracking using a ticketing system.
Developer/DBA role requires extensive use of database technologies with a strong emphasis on SQL, stored procedures, and views. May also use triggers and advanced data types. For server to server communication uses streams, replication and/or sharding technologies. Will work primarily with PostgreSQL and Oracle servers. Javascript and Node.js/V8 may also be used in server implementations. Use XML and custom DTDs in a variety of contexts.
1.Architects and programs solutions for applying complex business rules to corporate data from a number of departments. Creates tools to manage large datasets. Builds high performing and high reliability systems.
2.Develops and maintains software applications for use among advertising personnel, including circular and signing production, photography and asset management solutions, and data exchange.
3.Delegates and provides guidance to other application developers.
4.Builds requirements and writes documentation of Advertising IS products.
5.Researches new technological developments and spearheads incorporation of new practices and tools.
6.Supports and trains personnel in operation of software tools and builds requirements for new tools
1.Ability to work with document oriented databases desirable as is knowledge of NoSQL data stores like PostgreSQL's HStore.
2.Advanced object oriented programming in PHP and other languages. Must have proficiency in Javascript for client side (browser) scripting and be an expert in PHP for server side programming.
3.Extensive database programming experience using SQL, stored procedures, views, triggers, and custom data types.
4.In-depth knowledge of object relational database management systems including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle. Familiarity with document-oriented databases such as CouchDB and MongoDB and key-value stores desirable.
5.Expertise with web development languages including HTML, CSS, Javascript and the browser DOM. Ability to build highly usable interfaces for a variety of end users.
6.Extensive experience with Linux as a server platform and the Apache web server is a must. Enthusiasm for Apple-based systems a plus.
7.Should have an interest in server side functional programming languages that better support concurrent processing including Scala and Erlang for future evolution of the Advertising development platform.
8.Minimum of 8 years previous experience in the professional web development space, with specifications, deliverables and documentation.
