GENERAL DUTIES:
Interface with patients and act as a liaison between patients and providers. The clinic assistant is responsible for the smooth and efficient function of a busy reception and waiting area and he/she coordinates the flow of information within the office. This position will obtain and track insurance referrals for patient visits, review fee tickets for completeness of demographic/billing information as well as compatible CPT & ICD 9 codes and modifiers, reappoint patients taking into consideration payer requirements such as length of time between visits, inform patients of payer policies regarding covered and non-covered services as well as future referral status.
The clinic assistant is responsible for the efficiency of clinic operations and for facilitating effective use of physicians' time. Ensures the cleanliness and safety of clinical areas; maintains stock of necessary supplies, and equipment; and prepares patient for exam. Provides clinical assistance to the physician as well as provide support to office staff. Prepares referrals and schedules patients for diagnostic tests. Promotes a cooperative environment for patients and personnel. Access to demographic information and limited Patient Health Information related to job function.
Qualifications
Required:
Medical Office Assistant Certificate
Current BLS certification (American Heart Association - maintain current at all times)
One year of experience in a medical office setting
Proficient in word processing and business machines and in the use of English grammar
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication (written/verbal/use of English grammar)
Ability to multi task with effective time management skills
Professional appearance at all times
