Business Relations Manager, MS Houston/Birmingham

Position Title: Business Relations Manager (BRM), Multiple Sclerosis


In this field based position, the Business Relations Manager (BRM) will be the field subject matter expert relating to financial, reimbursement and access issues for a newly developed product for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) throughout their designated territory. In addition, they will help support product reimbursement through the development of relationships with local thought leaders and practice managers. Within a highly competitive marketplace, they will be called upon to successfully help develop and execute the national infusion strategy, supporting the initiatives set forth in the launch plan. The BRM reports to the Director, Business Relations (East or West).


Key Responsibilities:



  • BRMs will be subject matter experts on product procurement, buy & bill processes, reimbursement (billing and coding), financial assistance offerings from MS One to One, and other similar issues pertaining to the purchase and use of Genzyme MS products by health care providers.

  • Plan, design and implement territory plans to support broad access to Genzyme's MS therapies.

  • Spend a majority of time in the field developing and managing health care providers who administer infused medicine in a healthcare setting. Additionally, educate office personnel on appropriate billing codes (J, Q or C codes) for Genzyme's MS therapies and provide support in triaging reimbursement questions or any MS One to One service issues.

  • Secondarily, develop professional relationships with local carrier advisory committees (CACs) and P&T members to advocate for appropriate patient access to Genzyme's MS therapies. Work with other account management stakeholders to secure appropriate Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) and payer reimbursement policies.

  • Establish positive working relationships with all key customer segments (internal and external).

  • Develop working relationships with state societies, associations and advocacy groups facilitating programs that impact reimbursement policy and raise overall clinical awareness for MS brands.

  • Communicate and collaborate with Area Business Managers (ABMs), Regional Business Directors (RBD), Thought Leader Liaisons (TLLs), Infusion Support Managers (ISMs), Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, senior leadership and all other departments necessary in order to support access to Genzyme's MS therapies.

    Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree required, preferably in life science or business, MBA a plus

  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry

  • 5-7+ years pharmaceutical/biotech business relations experience, including specialty sales, with demonstrated exceptional results

  • Ability to travel to meetings/trainings/programs as necessary - additional travel may be required within the assigned territory

  • Demonstrated success of teamwork and working in a matrix environment (sales, market access, customer service, medical affairs, marketing, etc)

  • Valid driver's license

    Preferred Qualifications:


  • MS experience strongly preferred

  • MS or Oncology physician reimbursement experience strongly preferred

  • Must be an energetic and driven to succeed

  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills required

  • Strong understanding and experience supporting infused products, especially within a buy and bill model

  • Significant experience and understanding of the ever changing payer environment and its impact on patient access to products infused in a healthcare setting

  • Must achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable Genzyme policies and procedures and regulatory and legal requirements, and require the same of his/her team
