The primary role for this position will be to drive strategic planning and tactical execution of improvements to the company’s voice and data network contributing to the build out of an infrastructure that is stable, secure and scalable. The Network Engineer is in charge with providing support functions including problem determination and resolution, technical solution development, policies, procedures, training and instructional literature for employees and customers and processes of network infrastructure assets.
What you need for this position:
• 5+ years related work experience in the Cisco Router/switches Network infrastructure.
• Advanced experience with Cisco devices, routers and switches required
• Advanced configuration and troubleshooting experience with Cisco routers and Layer 3 switches
• Experience with QoS implementation in a Cisco router and VoIP environment
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Server platforms and MS network services
• Knowledge of Storage Area Networks is preferred
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking/communication protocols and Cisco hardware models
• Experienced in the design of enterprise network routing architectures using protocols such as SIP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP and static routes
• Experience with networking monitoring tools such as Solarwinds
• Excellent analytical skills, organizational, time management and problem solving skills are essential
• Knowledge of DNS, WINS, DHCP, Quality of Service, IPSec, GRE tunnels, VoIP preferred
• Experience in developing and deploying disaster recovery solutions preferred
What you'll be doing:
• Provide support that is operational in nature with a focus on maintaining excellent day-to-day functioning of all aspects of the voice and data network
• Troubleshoot complex network issues in the LAN and WAN networks, and works with team to identify bottlenecks and other network configuration issues
• Develop and communicate recommendations for procedures, technical standards and guidelines
• Document LAN/WAN infrastructure, such as network topology, subnets, firewall and router configurations, and other systems deemed to be critical
• Maintain firewalls, remote access, and overall security for the LAN and WAN infrastructure
• Level 2 customer configurations and troubleshooting including carrier trouble ticket entries as needed
