The Role:

Bloomberg's R&D Network Design & Information Security (NDIS) group is responsible for the design, architecture, development and security for Bloomberg's internal and client-facing global network, security, and virtualization infrastructure.

The NDIS group is looking for an entry- to mid-level System Security engineer with a strong programming background. The position offers a challenging prospect to work on a wide range of technologies, with the primary focus being on system security and development. The candidate should have strong technical and programming skills, excellent problem solving skills and an appreciation for the scope and impact of their highly visible work. The candidate must possess a strong ability to multitask effectively, prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment, and work in a team environment.

Qualifications:

- 3 to 5 years of software development experience is essential.

- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms

- Proficient in Python and C programming language

- Must have experience with at least web application framework (e.g. Django), Web interface development and on HTML

- Good understanding of UNIX system internals and UNIX administration skills

- Experience with SQL, XML, JSON, JavaScript

- Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.

Additional Desirable Skills:

- Hands-on experience with host-based security procedures and conducting host-based security

- Knowledge of Kerberos, SSL, SSH, LDAP, DNS
