SoftLayer - Software Architect

IBM is currently recruiting a Software Architect to join SoftLayer Technologies, an IBM company. The Product Innovation team at SoftLayer is challenged with identifying, designing and developing products and services that will advance our business to the next level. We build the most innovative systems in the industry using the latest technology to deliver creative solutions for our customers.

We are looking for a software architect that has heavy experience in object oriented development and agile programming. You will be challenged to design and develop large-scale, highly peformant applications and services leveraging a wide variety of open source and commercial technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative, company and industry impacting products and services
  


• Design, develop and implement object oriented applications from prototype through implementation
  


• Create highly scalable and performant SOAP/ REST/XML/JSON web services
  


• Design and develop integration strategies for open source and commercial technologies
  


• Take ownership and manage projects that vary in size and scope depending on requirements

Required

• Bachelor's Degree


• At least 3 years experience in SOA / web services - SOAP, REST, XML-RPC, XML, JSON


• At least 3 years experience in Hands-on experience w/ web application development


• At least 2 years experience in SQL - Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL


• At least 3 years experience in C/C++, Java, Ruby and/or Python a plus


• At least 2 years experience in NoSQL and “Big Data” - Hadoop, Cassandra, Lucene


• At least 5 years experience in OO design principles


• English: Fluent
