In the role of Windows SQL DBA, you will be responsible for SQL Level-3 support in a large, fast paced, World-Class Enterprise environment. Windows 2003, 2008, and 2012 Server and an advanced server are the primary server operating systems. You will participate in a rotating 7x24 on-call rotation to respond to escalated incidents and act as the escalation point for assisting Level-I and II support in Incident Management. You will respond to incidents escalated to Level-3 support in accordance with documented processes and procedures. In this position, you will listen to, understand and articulate the business value and impact of advanced technical and non-technical concepts in written and oral formats to customers, peers and/or management in a one-on-one or team context. You will be need to seek management assistance when required to make decisions or communicate across organizational boundaries, and need to understand when to escalate issues. In this role, you will be involved in anticipating problem troubleshooting scenarios and will analyze ways in which to avoid the problem completely or greatly mitigate its risk.
You will also be responsible for:
- Monitoring trends in incident management; determining problems and resolving those problems
- Performing documented system builds and complying with release management; change management; configuration management, and quality assurance standards
- Database Performance tuning
- Documenting processes and procedures as assigned by management
- Enforcing SQL Services and server configuration standard
The ideal candidate will be capable of documenting small-to medium scale projects with minimal supervision and may be involved in developing and delivering presentations. This DBA must be capable of routinely making effective and timely decisions in alignment with departmental direction based on sound business knowledge and the ability to solicit input from internal and external sources including the ability to investigate and weigh best practices from other corporations.
Required Skills / Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on support experience on SQL 2005 / 2008 / 2012
- 5+ years of knowledge in Windows 2000 / 2003, and 2008 Servers
- 2+ years of knowledge in Active Directory
- Working knowledge of Netware 6.0 and 6.5 is preferred
- 2 years of VB (Visual Basic) scripting are preferred
- 2 years of general server support experience are preferred
- MCSE is also preferred
- You must be a team player that is able to negotiate skillfully in difficult situations with internal and external groups
- You must be capable of dissecting complex situations and refocusing on the most critical technology tasks
- You must be capable of developing a small intra-team program and leading small to medium projects
- Have the ability to understand and articulate the business value and impact of advanced technical and non-technical concepts
- Have the ability to routinely make effective and timely decisions in alignment with departmental direction based on sound business knowledge and the ability to solicit input from internal and external sources
- AJAX experience (raw JavaScript and .NET 3.5 implementations)
- SQL Database Development and Administration (T-SQL)
