Detailed Description

Performs technical work requiring the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out tasks under supervision. Requires the use of techniques and the extension of theories, precepts, and practices of own field and related sciences of disciplines. The knowledge and expertise required for this level usually results from progressive experience. Consults supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments. Reviews work with supervision or higher level engineers.


Key Accountabilities

-Applies company standards and practices to all design work.

-Develop system-operating parameters to meet company and customer needs.

-Prepare test procedures and assesses new technology, material and equipment.

-Frame engineering/operational problems and propose solutions.

-Monitor and coordinate engineering related activities as related to field construction projects.

-Monitor system performance and prepare short-term facility plans including costs.

-Must be able to make sound engineering decisions under limited time constraints with guidance from supervision.

-Prepare written procedures to facilitate construction, maintenance, and operation of gas transmission systems.

-Provide analysis, design, and specification and cost estimates for gas transmission systems.

-Direct development and/or review of engineering drawings for gas handling equipment and processes.

-Provide technical support to Operations as needed, particularly to optimize efficiency and reliability of equipment used in compression and processing of natural gas.

-Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) training and apply CI tools and methodologies to improve output of job assignments and work processes

Qualifications


-Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

-Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.

-Three to seven years of job-related experience.

-Must have a valid driver's license, provide a suitable automobile for use on Company business, and meet Company driving standards.

-Proficiency in computer applications applicable to specific work field/discipline, including spreadsheet, database and word processing applications

-Preferred to have passed Fundamentals of Engineering for Professional registration.

-Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people at all levels both within and outside the company.

-Ability to develop and interpret blueprints/drawings/schematics and other design documents, including P&ID and PFD.

-Ability to interpret federal and state codes and develop standards and procedures to comply.

-Knowledge of specification, design, installation, pressure testing and commissioning of gas-handling piping and equipment including heating, regulation, flow control, measurement, dehydration and compression equipment.

-Knowledge of gas industry codes and standards including Michigan Gas Safety Standards, ASME Piping and Pressure Vessel Code and National Electric Code.

-Knowledge of interactions of process parameters by way of cause and effect including ability to troubleshoot process plants. and gas handling equipment to restore or improve efficiency .
