Job Summary:


The Systems Engineer (Servers) is responsible for a combination of field deployable engineering activities, presales configuration and consulting activities, skills and certification maintenance, and engineering laboratory research and technology development tasks. The Systems Engineer is primarily responsible to maintain a high level of billable utilization. Billable activity is a combination of customer onsite installation and Server system deployment, storage system configuration, and system troubleshooting and performance optimization, and documentation.


The Systems Engineer is focused mainly on Server technology, but must also possess and maintain competency in certain adjacent technologies such as industry standard servers, virtualization, networking, and operating system software.


The Systems Engineer will be focused specifically on Servers and other related technologies. Systems Engineer will also be focused on deploying, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and documenting procedures in a field-deployable customer billable capacity. The engineer will also maintain a high level of competency and certification in relevant Server product and technology sets.


Required Skills/Qualification:



  • Pre-Sales design and Post-Sales delivery and deployment of server/desktop virtualization technologies.

  • Assessment tools experience.

  • Designing/architecture of server, and desktop virtualization solutions.

  • Bachelor’s degree, (or comparable experience) in Computer Science or related field desirable.

  • Ability to make rapid and concise decisions based on sound technical basis.

  • Ability to translate Enterprise data center and storage related jargon to diverse groups of technical and non- technical users.

  • Five years experience in server/desktop virtualization design, configuration, and delivery.

  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting server/virtualization issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Minimum technical certification: VCP, prefer vcap or higher.

  • Desirable certifications include Storage, Microsoft, and VMware desktop virtualization related technology.

  • Knowledge of Lefthand, Compellent, VNXe and Cisco UCS a plus.

  • This is a remote position working from home. Must reside near a metro airport.

  • Flexible hours, on-call support and travel to customer sites (50% travel time) is required
