*Budget Analyst

Job Summary

Provide analytical support for all accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting requirements for the college. Assist in preparation of operational budgets for departments; review expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary provisions. This position is primarily assigned to the College Operations Officer campuses, but may be used in other areas where appropriately needed.

Responsibilities

Work with College Operations Officer and other budget authorities to reconcile annual budget.


Monitor all college budgets for budgets exceeding allocated amounts.


Analyze requisitions for accurate descriptions, extensions, totals, and verify funds availability.


Responsible for reviewing operating budgets periodically in order to analyze trends affecting budget needs.


Prepare monthly report of purchasing activities consisting of number of orders placed, total amount expended per month, and a breakdown of orders by department.


Check and verify invoices for payment.


Interact with vendors and college personnel regarding orders, requisitions, and deliveries.


Work with Accounts Payable Department to ensure timely processing of vendor payments.


Analyze financial information and prepare reports to summarize current and projected financial position of college.


Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts as may be required by the College President or College Operations Officer.


Enforce compliance with operational policies and procedures.


Post budget adjustments on PeopleSoft.


Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree required.

Three (3) years of work-related experienced required.

NOTE: Part-time experience will be counted as half of full-time experience; for example, two (2) years of part-time experience will equal one (1) year of full-time experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Good communication and interpersonal skills

A thorough working knowledge of the application of general accounting principles.


Knowledge of college purchasing policies and procedures.


Knowledge of PC, MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Access.


Computer Skills Requirements

Candidates selected to fill a Regular Full-Time Staff Position shall serve a probationary period up to six (6) months from date of hire.

Criminal History Background Check Notification
