Direct Client Required IT Data Center Operations Specialist for Dallas,Texas

Duration: 6 months intial contract with an extension

Interview Type : Telephonic


Required Skills:

IT Operations Specialist will Monitor the availability and health of the networks and computer system environments within a large, multi-platform Data Center.

IT Operations Specialist shall Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex to complex network, computer and production problems. Interact with Technology Teams in support activities.

IT Operations Specialist shall Utilize a problem management tool to open and track tickets, escalate issues, and follow-up to ensure satisfactory resolution.

Business / Customer Orientation: Focus on internal and external Customer requirements; Requires 24 X 7 shift rotation.

Production Support: Monitor hardware, OS, networks, or batch processing via standard monitoring tools; Submit and monitor production jobs; Confirm successful completion of system backups; Demonstrate basic understanding of business continuance guidelines and the ability to execute BCP plans including remote operations; Maintain awareness of migration schedules, monitor migration progress and timing and report on migrations that exceed outage window; Monitor and process tape production via automated tape libraries. Prepare and distribute tapes for offsite storage; Demonstrate the ability to complete print processing timely.

Problem Management: Troubleshoot and resolve simple to moderately complex production problems; Create trouble tickets and follow up to ensure resolution; Keep mentors and supervisors informed of all system and application problems

Education: HS diploma or equivalent. Some Technical training preferred.

Experience: Previous operations experience required.

Maturity: Learns from senior level specialists and completed shift responsibilities; Completes tasks under direction; Tasks are assigned and consequences of error carry a moderate to high risk to the organization.

Core Knowledge: Basic knowledge of Operations environment; Knowledge of monitoring, hardware or batch processing or network environments preferred; Basic printing and media process skills required

Critical Skills: Proficient Customer service skills; Proficient oral and written communication skills; Basic keyboard skills; Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure under pressure; Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, Customer service oriented environment; Ability to identify and diagnosis common / basic IT problems and implement solutions effectively.
