Product Design Engineer II - Growth Position!
The Product Design Engineer's primary role is to lead major development project by utilizing engineering knowledge, skills, and related experience to provide the company an efficient means of transferring ideas into reality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Design:
Conceptualize designs and analyzes/selects materials and processes.
Perform direct component and machine cost analysis.
Research and understand the applicable industry and government
standards (CE, UL, etc.)
Create models and drawings in CAD (Solidowrks) software.
Documentation:
Research and understand the basic requirements of appropriate
manufacturing standards for components, subassemblies, and
machines.
Support the creation of machine documentation (manuals, labels,
literature).
Produce drawings, performs bolted joint design, component tolerance
stack-up, geometric tolerancing, FMEAs, and hazard analysis.
Product Support:
Provide production support through quality notifications and
deviations.
Work with Product Support and Quality Assurance to improve machine
warranty rates and resolve customer issues.
Product Testing:
In collaboration with Research & Development, create test plans.
Evaluate results and recommends appropriate engineering action.
Project Management:
Work with cross functional departments and suppliers to ensure
assigned duties within projects meet the time line, project cost,
performance, quality and safety requirements.
May serve as the technical leader for small projects.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualified individuals must possess a Bachelor's Degree in
Mechanical Engineering and 5-8 years design engineering related
experience.
Design experience in relation to HVAC design.
Can perform mechanical functions as well as basic electrical
engineering functions.
Experience using CAD software required (ProE or Solidworks -
preferred).
Experience in the following areas would also be preferred, but not
required: Thermodynamics, Electrical/Electronics PLC knowledge,
diesel experience, hydraulics, CSA/UL/CE standard knowledge, DVP&R,
FMEA, FEA structural analysis, validation test reports.
Excellent communication, analytical and problem solving skills and
strong function/technical expertise are a must.
Prefer someone who has worked in a team environment, working within
multiple functional areas.
Experience in designing machinery products preferred.
