Qualifications: Gas Supply is looking for a dynamic Section Manager to oversee its Gas Purchasing and Scheduling section. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong Commitment to Excellence and Corporate Values. This individual must be detail-oriented, well organized, able to handle multiple tasks, and to meet all deadlines. The successful candidate must have proven leadership skills, the ability to motivate people, be innovative, and able to adapt to change. This individual must have excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to foster a team-spirited work environment. The individual also must have excellent oral, written, analytical and presentation skills.


Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or the equivalent is required. The successful candidate must also have a minimum of eight years of experience in a management position and be knowledgeable of the processes that are used to contract, purchase, transport and store natural gas, and the natural gas infrastructure that supplies the New York metropolitan area. The successful candidate will have experience in setting goals, analyzing proposals, negotiating agreements and making sound business decisions. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products is required.


Responsibilities: Responsible for managing the Gas Purchasing and Scheduling section, which purchases, schedules, and manages the combined Company, Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R), and Steam Operations gas supply and capacity portfolio to meet firm and interruptible sales and transportation customer requirements including Company generation, perform transportation customer balancing, and Company and third-party owned power plant balancing, as appropriate. Responsible for establishing gas purchase agreements with suppliers with includes working with law, risk management and contract administration; developing and implementing asset optimization through releases of pipeline capacity, asset management arrangements utilizing pipeline capacity and/or storage; and exchanges of supply in order to achieve non-traditional revenue goals. Responsible for the development and implementation of the multi-year, annual and seasonal Purchase Plans; development of monthly and daily operational planning including storage utilization; and supporting the annual and monthly planning to meet the capacity needs of the retail access program. Responsibilities include the preparation of required analysis, presentations and recommendations. . Finally, serves as department liaison and subject matter expert to the Company’s planning, transportation services, billing, rate engineering, gas operations, regulatory and policy groups in addition to Department of Public Service Staff, gas marketers, customer groups and various industry groups (e.g., member of Northeast Gas Association gas supply task force).


Will be required to travel to various locations for meetings, conferences, etc. within and outside the Company/O&R service areas. May be required to work additional hours and / or rotating shifts as operational needs and /or system emergencies dictate.
