IBM Xtify is seeking a senior systems administrator/applications engineer to lead and support our growing cloud-based infrastructure and service strategy. The candidate will have an excellent track-record of building and supporting high-performing, redundant infrastructure for platform/software-as-as-service web applications. The candidate will also be able to troubleshoot application support issues reported to us by our customers and be able to help our customers integrate our SDKs into their code-base.
Responsibilities:
- Linux system administration.
- Architect and refine existing cloud-based infrastructure
- Provide support for all aspects of our environment including server/network infrastructure, software platforms (JBoss, ActiveMQ, MongoDB, MySQL) and mobile device SDKs (iOS, Android, BlackBerry)
- Establish and refine operations protocols and procedures for security/authentication, deployment/change management, incident/problem management, configuration/inventory management and other aspects of ITIL v3
- Develop and refine monitoring & automation strategy, including creation and management of new monitors and scripts
- Document/draw & maintain architecture and system diagrams, support procedures and new-platform specifications
- Be available for off-hours support escalation and change procedures supporting out 24x7 environment
- Manage backup strategy for data, systems, configurations and code repository
- Manage and support Git code repository
- Research and suggest improvements to our existing and future environments
- Investigate and resolve all crashes, failures, and unexpected behavior.
- Installation and support of software and patches.
- Troubleshooting performance issues, design and implementation of solutions.
Key Attributes:
- Experience with Cloud Hosted Environments such as Softlayer or AWS
- Experience with MongoDB a huge plus
- Experience with ActiveMQ or equivalent message broker a huge plus
- Ability to own a project from specification through execution, testing and lifecycle management
- Familiarity with mobile application development on iOS & Android a huge plus
- Communications skills with experience interacting with internal/external developers
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- Experience with host and network monitoring tools, commercial and open source.
- Programming used to improve/automate/troubleshoot operations issues.
- Perl/shell preferred, C/ruby/java all plusses.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking and ability to troubleshoot both Inter- and Intra-net issues.
- Database admin skills a plus (DB2, MongoDB, MySQL, MS-SQL, Oracle, Post, Vertica) a plus.
- Experience with revision control and change control, as it relates to system administration.
- Some knowledge of Security, SAS70, SOX practices.
- On call duty as part of a rotation is required.

- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 5 years experience in Linux System Administration
- At least 4 years experience in Production Infrastructure Support
- At least 3 years experience in Implement Cloud Computing
- At least 3 years experience in Use System Monitor Tools
- At least 3 years experience in Manage Web Applications
