Supplier Quality Engineer / 10210

Position Description:


Attwood Corporation, a Brunswick Company, is the world’s leading manufacturer of marine accessories for the boating industry, including a wide range of seating, hardware, fuel systems, navigational lighting, pumps, and other electro-mechanical components.


We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineering candidate who is self- motivated and enjoys working in a fast pace team environment. In this role you will be responsible for:


Supplier Development /Audits

• Conduct supplier Quality System Assessment (QSA) of new and existing suppliers to determine manufacturing capability and adherence to accepted quality practices.

• Assists suppliers in development of acceptable quality assurance systems, processes, and procedures to facilitate continuous improvement of supplier performance including; developing capability, runoff, and MSA.

• Perform gap analysis and support the implementation of site procedure/supplier changes

• Develop and maintain strong spirit of partnership with suppliers


Supplier Non-Conformances

• Lead supplier non-conformances, investigations, and product inspections through corrective action.

• Consults and/or acts as liaison with Engineering, Quality and/or Purchasing departments and provides the support required to successfully evaluate and resolve issues and bring to closure any supplier quality issues, whether in-house or at supplier facilities.


Cost Reductions

• Supporting Commodity Managers through cost reduction efforts related to material or process changes within the supply chain. Engage in applying/leading Continuous Improvement and/or VA/VE activities to reduce cost.


Inspection & Warranty

• Works in conjunction with Receiving Inspection and Warranty Departments. Ensures and verify that established manufacturing inspection, sampling, and statistical process control procedures are followed.

• Lead warranty reduction and work directly with Supply Management for recovery.

• Analyze supplier performance data related to external audits/inspections and industry trends. Provide clear and concise reports in a timely manner related to supplier performance and KPIs.

• Attends Material Review Board (MRB) and provide assistance with the timely disposition of purchased components and finished goods.


Successful candidates will have/meet the following requirements:


• Minimum BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Quality Systems Engineering. Advanced degree preferred.

• 3 years experience with manufacturing processes, quality, tooling/tool design, TPM

• 2 years of supplier audit and/or regulatory affairs experience

• CQE, CQA, or Black Belt Certification required.

• Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and/or TS16949 Quality Management Systems

• Background in multiple manufacturing disciplines with strong knowledge of injection molding and/or casting desired.

• Knowledge of AIAG core tools such as SPC, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, Control Plan


Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate excellence in the following areas:


• Expert verbal and written communication skills, able to interact with suppliers on a daily basis (facilitate large meetings, prepare detailed reports)

• Must have effective technical writing skills

• Accomplished at print and schematic reading including GD&T

• Ability to collaborate with all levels of management in a cross-functional team environment is required

• Building partnerships

• Strong leadership, conflict resolution, negotiation persuasion skills required.


Domestic and International travel required.
