Role Summary/Purpose

Serves as direct line ARM (11.1.2.x) solution (technical) architect of EPM projects in support of Record to Report Enterprise Standard (R2R ES). Leads the design & implementation of the ES Hyperion Account Reconciliation Manager. This is not an admin position. This role will be responsible for architecting, designing, launch & transitioning to ops. Works with functional teams, peers & vendors to seamlessly integrate assigned deliverables into strategic objectives of the R2R Enterprise Standard.


Essential Responsibilities



  • Partner with R2R finance leaders & business integration leads and IT PMs to architect, design & deploy a global ARM solution to manage all financial account reconciliations globally across GE

  • Will be working alongside other architects and leaders on the Corporate Hyperion team (DRM, HFM, Planning, Essbase, etc.)

  • Serves as technical expert responsible for design and implementation of application and enterprise platforms

  • Designs platforms that integrate corporate, central, distributed and client server systems to maximize utility and minimize cost

  • Evaluates and recommends new or enhanced technologies that could improve current systems

  • Develops technical standards and provides resolution of complex system problems identifies and evaluates new products

  • Ensures that plans for system technologies integrate effectively with multiple application and enterprise layers of hardware and software

  • Provide leadership and guide 3rd party consultants throughout the systems development lifecycle to ensure quality, IT SDLC, and compliance requirements are met

  • Drive requirements gathering activities managing expectations with functional customers (i.e. balancing their needs with wants and educate as appropriate)

  • Translate high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications

  • Lead all testing activities and resources prior to user acceptance testing ensuring quality and requirements are met

  • Ensure compliance to system architecture, methods, standards, practices and participate in their creation

  • Develop peer, cross-functional and cross-GE Business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness

  • Keep abreast with the new tools and technologies as well as other advancements made in the EPM and BI spaces including pre-packaged applications


Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems, Finance, or related discipline plus a minimum 3 years of hands-on IT work experience (or a High School Diploma with a minimum 7 years of hands-on IT work experience)

  • Minimum 2 years of Hyperion System 9 and/or 11 level experience

  • Minimum 5 years of overall Hyperion EPM Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with system analysis, design and modeling


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work out of an office in Visteon Village, Wayne County, Van Buren Township (near Ann Arbor / Detroit)

  • Must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act

Desired Characteristics



  • Strong knowledge of financial systems, financial cycles and processes

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with systems as relates to financial account reconciliation processes

  • Experience with complex, multi-tiered Hyperion deployments

  • Experience with complex, global system implementations

  • Well versed in Oracle / Hyperion toolsets (HFM, Planning, Essbase, etc.)

  • Knowledge of other Systems (I.e. Oracle Financials, OBIEE, ODI, ERPi, DRM, etc.)

  • Proven experience in onshore and offshore team management

  • Sarbanes Oxley experience desired

  • Experience / knowledge working with and in SmartView

  • Experience / knowledge with Financial Data Quality Manager (FDM) and ERPi / ODI

  • Excellent influencing, interpersonal and communications skills (both written and verbal) with all levels of an organization

  • Self-starter - requires minimal direction to accomplish goals

  • Strong track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and / or industry activities

  • Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources

  • Experience working with others on a global basis

  • Applies knowledge to coach and mentor others

  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships, creates processes with customer viewpoint and partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives

  • Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills - communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable strategies and operational plans

  • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements, champions and drives change initiatives, confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly

  • Black Belt or Green Belt Certified (GE Employees Only)

  • ITLP Graduate (GE Employees Only)
