Primary Duties/Essential Functions:
- Reconcile all bank accounts, records reconciling items and submits reconciliations by assigned monthly deadlines including: oversees research of outstanding items ensuring that correcting entries are prepared. Allocates and distributes monthly earnings from investments to appropriate accounts.
- Assist trustees accurately record operating transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Updates, maintains, analysis the inventory of asset management items
- Analyze and research financial problems and make recommendations for solutions.
- Serves as a contact with departments for banking corrections and transfers, providing research and resolution of requests.
- Prepares and posts journal vouchers which may include consolidations and eliminations.
- Researches and resolves critical accounting issues and transactions.
- Gathers financial information for report preparation.
- Audits and analyzes general ledger accounts.
- Performs special projects and account reconciliation as assigned by Financial Services Manager.
- Provides problem solving/research related to balancing and maintaining petty cash accounts.
- Flexibility in meeting month-end deadlines.
- Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
- Performs various additional complex related accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Four years experience in accounting working in a higher education and/or non-profit environment.
- Expert levels of MS Excel with knowledge of macros, vlookups, pivot tables, etc.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL database including query lookups.
- Proficiency in PeopleSoft 9.0 General Ledger system
- Deep PeopleSoft nVision Financial Reporting proficiency
- 2 years of fund accounting knowledge and experience
- Technical system skills in an ERP system (Oracle-PeopleSoft) to work with large databases and query the necessary data
- CPA preferred
