Position Overview
Houston based company with global business operations is looking for an experienced and technology focused project manager to take responsibility for multiple custom application development initiatives. This position will manage teams of business analysts and developers through the entire systems development lifecycle (SDLC) to deliver innovative systems solutions to support current and planned business operations and long-term business objectives. The position requires a strong technical and programming background with extensive experience in large scale, complex custom application development.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage project teams of business analysts and programming staff with accountability for multiple IT project and program initiatives
- Provide project management oversight and expertise in project scoping, estimating, budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, and execution management
- Develop and manage to project plans and ensure project milestones, deliverables, and cost objectives are met
- Collaborate with internal and external resources to identify, evaluate and select technology solutions that best meet business and project objectives
- Work with and provide guidance to development teams in the areas of systems analysis, systems architecture, technical design, functional design, development methodologies, programming best practices, project management, etc.
Skills and Experience
- 10+ years IT industry experience
- 5+ years IT project management experience
- Solid working knowledge of current web technologies including .NET, Web Services, XML & Web 2.0 technologies.
- Demonstrated experience with managing full lifecycle (SDLC) custom application development projects of varying size and complexity
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple, concurrent project initiatives and development teams
- Demonstrated experience with project management methodologies and best practices
- Demonstrated experience with onshore/offshore application development models
- Preferred (but not required) - experience working with PMO governance models
- Preferred (but not required) - PMP certification
- Must be able to travel internationally as required - travel is not extensive and will be of short duration to meet with project stakeholders
