Software Developer - San Diego

Our comprehensive, state of the art defined benefit and health welfare outsourcing services and HR service technologies help clients save money and improve service delivery while freeing Human Resources to make strategic contributions to the business. We have been in the business of benefit administration and HR technology for more than 25 years, and support hundreds of clients and nearly six million participants.


Due to growth in our outsourcing business, we are looking for several software developers in full-time positions. In this role you will customize, maintain and develop new solutions to meet client requirements on BenefitConnect, our proprietary, highly sophisticated and user-friendly software, built on the .Net framework. You will consult with clients and play a key role in project management on client assignments. You will have the opportunity to:

Note: Limited travel may be required at times.


Specific responsibilities:


Excellence







  • Systems programming using Visual Studio, C#, ASP.Net, Classic ASP, MVC JavaScript, jQuery and MS SQL Server.



  • Develop code per detailed specifications using specified programming languages, tools, and techniques under the direction of the project manager or team leader.



  • Deliver unit-tested systems timely that meet specification functionality requirements.



  • Work with team to define detailed specifications for specific functionality requirements.



  • Provide analysis for technical solutions based on functional requirements.



  • Provide consultative services on technical issues to clients and internal project teams.



  • Participate in development of system test plans.



  • Troubleshoot technical issues.



  • Keep abreast of latest developments regarding effective procedures, methods, and tools in software development and testing.




Clients







  • Contribute to project management including:



  • Create project plans including budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards



  • Monitor progress to deadlines and budget



  • Ensure appropriate and effective communication among team members and the client



  • Manage client expectations and raising appropriate issues to Consultants and Client Relationship Managers



  • Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client's broader business issues



  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects




People







  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams



  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels



  • Mentor and develop more junior level staff



  • Assist team members in whatever way necessary to reach successful completion of the tasks at hand




Financial







  • Deliver on projects in accordance with project plan for time, cost, accuracy, etc.



  • Directly contribute to clients' success through applying your technical expertise.




Requirements







  • 2+ years development experience in Visual Studio, RDBMS, MS SQL Server, Microsoft .Net, (especially C#, ASP.Net and MVC).



  • Background in benefits administration a plus.



  • Degree (Associates or Bachelors) in computer science, management information systems or related area



  • Strong knowledge of Visual Studio, RDBMS, MS SQL Server, Microsoft .Net (especially C# and ASP.Net); relevant client-server development experience preferred.



  • Ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously; strong time management skills.



  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment that has tight deadlines.



  • Ability to learn and evaluate new tools, concepts, and challenges quickly.



  • Client service focus and flexibility in supporting client requests.



  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.



  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.



  • Be available, at times, to work extended work hours.
