This PROCESS PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDING ENGINEER will be responsible for developing the plastics injection molding process for new products, which will include the investigating, developing, and managing from the concept to production stages.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

Establish process efficiency standards to meet customer specifications.

Responsible for all molding tool evaluations, designs and process development for products including process development and tooling procurement for all molding done in-house.

Serve as a supporting resource for both the Project Managers and the Process Engineering group.

Work closely with the Design team on product development, Purchasing on tooling, vendor procurement, and Process Engineering during manufacturing development for molded product in-house.

Responsibility with molders in the development and trouble shooting of first run trials and mold tools to make acceptable parts and processes.(Choose molding resin, determine molding machine size and any needed automation or auxiliary equipment, review prints to understand all dimensions and related tolerances for capability, including graphics, to drive a design the incorporates printing, forming, cutting and molding abilities).

Set up and develop initial molding processes and ensures ancillary equipment is functioning properly.

Offer design & tooling recommendations.

Monitor and recommend when Preventative Maintenance (PM) is required.

Document processing instructions for all activities (printing through molding).

Trouble-shoot manufacturing and injection molding processes.

Interact with customers (technical and business professionals).

Launch products through the APQP process. Provide DOEs, FMEAs, control plans, GR&R, capability studies, process analysis and SREAs.

Ensure all environmental practices and materials are handled and disposed of per appropriate procedures.


DESIRED QUALIFICATONS:

Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline: Mechanical, Manufacturing/Industrial Technology strongly preferred.

Minimum of 5 years hands on injection molding and process experience.

Strong project engineering background.

Knowledgeable in APQP/Product Development methodologies.

Strong Computer Skills: 3-D CAD, Competent in MS Excel, Word and Project, Statistical Process Control Methods.

Able to read and interpret blue prints, knowledge of GDT helpful.

Must have an understanding of Injection mold tools.

Able to use measurement equipment i.e. caliper, micrometer

Able to manage, mentor, provide leadership to press operators and technicians.

Coordinate and ensure quality, timing, cost.

Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems.

Must be self-directed and willing to work as needed during critical segments of new product launches.

Lean and Six Sigma quality tool experience strongly preferred.

Chemistry and/or screen printing experience preferred.

Good problem solver able to anticipate and mitigate risk

High level of communication skills can communicate clearly to customers and internal teams and convey confidence.
