Critical Systems Operator / 4616

Position Description:


We are currently seeking a Critical Systems Operator (Swing/Graveyard shift) who will ensure all equipment in Critical Systems is operated and maintained within safe operating and correct GMP parameters.


Experience in the Safe Startup, Operation, Light Maintenance and Shutdown (as it relates to operation) of all Critical Systems unit operations including but not limited to:

1. Steam generation (including but not limited to gas turbines, boilers, proper chemical pretreatment, pollution abatement and GMP procedures).

2. Water pretreatment (including but not limited to water softeners and carbon filtration and GMP procedures).

3. Electrical generation (including but not limited to loading, unloading, load shedding, and GMP procedures.

4. Compressed air systems (including but not limited to air dryers and GMP procedures).

5. Cooling towers (including but not limited to distribution, proper chemical pretreatment and GMP procedures).

6. Chillers (including but not limited to distribution and GMP procedures).

7. WFI distillation (including but not limited to Hot and Cold WFI production and GMP procedures).

8. WFI distribution (including but not limited to operation of point of use equipment such as heat exchangers and cooling towers, plant flushes and GMP procedures).

9. Control systems (including but not limited to DCS systems, PLC's, single loop controllers, input and output devices, pneumatic controllers and in the event of a failure of the automatic control systems, operate the equipment in manual control). Use of manipulation of 3 mode (PID) controllers using either local or DCS faceplates.

10. Use of SCADA Systems tools such as trends, alarms and real time data to monitor and identify process issues.

11. Problem diagnosis and its solution, identify improper operation of Critical System Processes.

12. Proper, timely, and effective communication of problems and their solutions to other shifts, business units, mechanics, management, and when so directed by management, outside regulatory agencies.

13. WFI quality (including but not limited to conductivity, iron, calcium, sodium, chlorine, chloramines, ammonia, TOC).


Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of vocational or technical training preferred. Must pass SAT Level II skills testing. Los Angeles City Unlimited Steam Engineer license desirable. Minimum of 5 years of central plant operating experience including operating steam boilers and continuous flow processes. Able to lift 50 lbs., occasional work from odd places (such as ladders, platforms and lifts).
