The Device Management Escalation Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for providing complex IT Security services to clients within the IBM Managed Security Services organization. As a member of a team, or working independently, performs an analytical and technical role in the design, development, implementation, integration and delivery of technical IT security solutions for our clients. Escalation Engineers perform multiple assigned technical tasks including research, analysis, troubleshooting, product installation, system integration, and complex root cause analysis of managed security solutions. This position also serves as an escalation point for the SOC, so a higher than fundamental level of understanding of support technologies is required. Escalation Engineers are problem solvers, mentors and relied heavily upon by the management to care for the customer.
Job Description:
- Configuring and administering firewall and UTM (Unified Threat Management) Systems
- Provide IBM clients with security architecture recommendations and assist with planning and implementation of long term projects
- Requires an in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and communication protocols in LAN/WAN deployments
- The ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor network service provider issues in the WAN while working with multiple geographically dispersed client and vendor teams to identify and eliminate network configuration issues
- Develop and write recommendations for departmental policies, procedures, technical standards and guidelines.
- Develop and write infrastructure system documentation standards for deployment and on going maintenance
Required Experience and Education:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 Years Experience in implanting network security solutions
- 3 years experience in Apply network troubleshooting techniques
- 3 years experience with one or more of the preferred security device platforms (Checkpoint, Cisco PIX, Cisco ASA, Cisco ISR, Juniper Netscreen, Juniper SRX, Bluecoat or ISS Proventia)
- Combined experience in network engineering, network administration, system programming, system design or related technical specialities
- Experience in firewall device policy design, management and security device troubleshooting and maintenance
- Linux, TCP/IP, IP Routing, VPN Management
Preferred Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Information Technology
- 5 years experience in Implement network security solutions
- 5 years experience in Apply network troubleshooting techniques
- Certified in Checkpoint Firewalls
- Certified in Cisco Firewalls
- Certified in Juniper Firewalls
- Remote Operations Experience
Required
