Sales Engineer Data Center *



The Sales Engineer - Data Center is responsible for providing technical pre-sales support for Data Center Storage, Virtualization, and Compute solutions by working with Sales Specialists and Account Executives to architect, design, propose, and close both existing and new opportunities. The Sales Engineer is a client-facing resource that will develop data center solutions and present recommendations in diverse, demanding customer environments.

Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Providing technical pre-sales support for data center storage, virtualization, and compute opportunities for enterprise environments.

  • Participating in client calls and meetings with Sales Specialists and Account Executives.

  • Translating complex business requirements into solutions.

  • Developing overall solutions including high-level design (e.g., whiteboarding), statement of work (SOW), and bills of materials (BOM).

  • Assist Sales Specialists and Account Executives with presenting solutions to client.

  • Providing technical pre-sales support for internal teams for data center solutions.

  • Providing advice regarding architectural questions, product prerequisites, product features, etc.

  • Assisting Design Associates teammates with BOM development for data center solutions.

  • Assisting Sales Specialists and Account Executives with designing data center solutions.

  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key partners.

  • Attending key partner events and training sessions.

  • Continued training to maintain expertise and to keep up with market changes.

  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent written skills and the ability to do related documentation and activity tracking of opportunities/meeting follow up.

  • Ability to understand the client's business objectives and technical needs.

  • Ability to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to sales and clients

  • Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment.

  • Maintain professional relationships with teammates, partners and clients.

  • Travel required within assigned territory - Up to 10-15% travel outside local market


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


Education and/or Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from a four year college or university or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Industry Certifications preferred: VCP/VTSP, EMCDCA, CCNP Data Center, NCIE, HP ASE StorageWorks, etc.

  • 5 years experience with data center storage, virtualization, and compute solutions

  • 2 year minimum experience with Cisco Data Center, HP, EMC, NetApp, and/or VMware based technologies

  • Cloud Computing knowledge is a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience in technical pre-sales required.

Specific



  • Experience with solutions from Cisco Unified Compute System (UCS) and Data Center switching (Nexus/MDS), HP (Server & Storage, i.e., 3PAR), EMC, NetApp, and/or VMware

  • Experience with Converged Infrastructure solutions such as Vblock/VSPEX and FlexPod architectures is a plus.
