Senior Radar Operator - IRAQ

Short-Term Deployment thru December 2013.


Specific training and licensing and advanced knowledge in the particular area of specialization, plus a broad knowledge of other related radar or electronics disciplines. Minimum 7 years of job-related experience.


Position requires knowledge of operations, maintenance or repair of military electronics, or communications systems, or radars, or weapon systems, or similar background. Prior Radar / sensor experience is preferred.


Requires excellent written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work in difficult environments.


Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a DoD Security Clearance Active clearance preferred.


Position requires overseas deployment - candidates currently in Iraq with a valid U.S. Passport and active Iraqi visa are preferred.

We have an immediate opportunity in Iraq for a Senior Radar Operator thru December 2013 to suppot our Giraffe Radar program. Candidates currently in Iraq with a valid U.S. Passport and active Iraqi visa are preferred.


The Giraffe AMB (GAMB) radar operator performs operator level preventative maintenance of the system; conducts all actions necessary to initialize and place the system into operations; monitors the system display for clutter, jamming, air and RAM tracks, faults, and conducts the initial target processing of enemy indirect fire events.


Essential Responsibilities:

Operates and monitors the radar.

Checks all initialization data entered into the radar computer prior entering into the operational program.

Conducts operator level preventative maintenance and checks.

Assists FSR with 2nd Level maintenance.

Checks all radar settings during shift change over to ensure proper operations of system.

Ensures 1594 log entries are maintained and updated.

Transmits daily reports (i.e. 1594's, Target log, 8-line, etc).

Checks fuel level status of the internal generator (every 6 hours to ensure operations).

Helps keep system & site clean.

Conducts liaison with supported units sensor management personnel to ensure synchronization with NAIs, and TAIs and threat analysis.

Participates in planning activities as directed by the GAMB PM.

Ensures the GAMB positions are accurately reported to supported units.

Processes incoming targets for story boards.

Performs the other duties when directed by the PM.

Draft a monthly operational rollups, and IDF percentage trackers.

Updates and distributes all IDF, target log, and 8 line report distribution lists.

Updates Radar Settings Data Sheet and POC phone number roster.

Assists the FSR with inventory of assigned tools, parts, and system components.

Conducts operator training to new junior operators.
