POSITION SUMMARY
The Public Safety Manager supervises Public Safety Shift Supervisors and Officers for all three shifts, enforces the security policies and procedures of St. Vincent Medical Center, along with the protection of personnel and property, and the enforcement of traffic and parking policies pertaining to the hospital grounds, parking garages and lots. This shall be accomplished with the utmost professional courtesy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive)
1. Serve in a leadership capacity on the Environment of Care Committee and the Emergency
Planning, integrating the information as necessary with the Public Safety Department.
2. Serve as certified instructor for the CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) for all SVMC
associates requiring this training.
3. Oversee the Emergency Patient Decontamination ongoing training and drills as required by
LA County EMS.
4. Investigate all complaints, disturbances, accidents and thefts, integrating other supervisors
and officers as necessary for thorough follow-through.
5. Maintain routine records and required documentation of all Public Safety Department staff,
including: inspections, incidents, and current permits. (e.g., BLS, CPI, Fire card)
Requirements
5-year minimum hospital experience in Public Safety Manager, 2-3 years minimum experience as a Public Safety Supervisor in a hospital setting. Must have a Current California Guard Card, Baton certificate, valid CA Drivers License, Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) training or obtained within 60 days of employment Current LA City Fire/Safety Card within 30 days of employment. Current BLS card from American Heart Association. Courses and/ or training in criminal law; or previous experience in law enforcement. Must have the ability to effectively communicate using English both orally and written. Must have knowledge and ability in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Power Point. Previous experience and basic skills in fire alarm systems strongly preferred.
