Performance Engineer

Responsibilities

The Performance Engineer is intended to lead a team that is dedicated to performance and growth. He/she will be responsible for seeking out leading tools and emerging technologies in the industry. He/she will help implement these tools and setup a team to monitor and proactively locate and resolve ongoing growing pains. This position will interact with external customers (large organizations) to understand their specific needs. This individual will need to understand large client issues, but also drive technology in a direction to cope with growth. In addition, he/she will need to help build a team that will proactively monitor system performance and architect solutions to issues before they occur.

For day to day activities, this individual will require little if any supervision as a valued individual contributor. He/she will lead other employees in problem resolution and in day to day systems activities. For emerging technologies and architectural changes, this individual will need to prepare presentations for senior management to get full buy-in. He/she will also having influence in staffing decisions.

Architect and configure application performance monitoring systems, assist in building the performance team.

Evaluate proper external tools and emerging technologies that will assist the team.

Present solutions formally to upper management to lead the direction of technology and the team.

Act as a team leader with the performance team, mentoring and directing others.

Qualifications

This job requires very specific technical knowledge of systems architecture and application performance monitoring. He/she will need to be able to maintain a very cool head as issues crop up. He/she will also require the ability to interact with the business side of very large, important customers. In addition to dealing with external customers, the individual will interact directly with the Systems Manager, Product Architect, Applications Development manager, Database Development Manager, PMO, Customer Experience and several other areas across the organization. He/she will need very solid communication and organizational skills to succeed in this position.
