Description of Work:
St Jude Medical is on the market for a hands-on Sr. IC characterization engineer to directly work on and provide technical leadership in the characterization of custom system on a chip (SOC) integrated circuits. The integrated circuits provide the functional features for implantable devices that save lives and provide therapy for serious medical conditions.
The custom integrated circuits used in our medical devices are complex systems on a chip utilizing low power design techniques, embedded processor control, custom mixed signal circuitry and complex digital circuitry. The successful person in this role will have a strong IC test background including hands-on analog and mixed signal IC verification/characterization experience utilizing circuit simulation, bench testing and ATE. The candidate should also have a strong interest in learning skill sets beyond analog or mixed signal IC characterization such as system testing, and overall clinical application impact.
The position will play a key role in growing our IC characterization capabilities and setting the example of comprehensive analysis of design including simulation verification, creation of appropriate characterization test plans with rationale for choices, critical evaluation of results, and trouble-shooting. This person will work closely with other cross-functional groups such as IC Design, ATE, Firmware, Clinical Systems, Manufacturing, and Program Management.
Required Skills:
MSEE (concentration on analog CMOS design) with at least 4 years of analog or mixed signal characterization test and/or design experience or BSEE (concentration on analog CMOS design) with at least 6 years of analog or mixed signal characterization test and/or design experience with system on a chip designs
Theoretical and practical understanding of analog IC design and test
SPICE simulation experience with CMOS analog circuitry such as current mirrors, references, amplifiers, A/D converters and some switched cap designs
Proven technical leadership skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to multi-task
Track record working collaboratively across functions in successful product development
Demonstrated ability to organize, analyze, document, prepare for characterization test plans, reviews, and reports
Ability to pick things up quickly
Motivated to learn about and ability to lead biomedical product development
Desired Skills:
Ability to write verilog test benches
Programming work on the LTxCredence Diamond Series D10 ATE tester or similar mixed signal ATE system
Writing programs in the C/C++ language and/or TCL language
Some previous work in biomedical electronics
