Responsibilities
The QA Manager is responsible for leading a team of 40+ employees and over 35 contract resources in support of Verizon Telematics Global Hardware and Software Products and Services. The QA Manager is responsible for ensuring all protocols and processes are followed for Design, Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualifacation in suport of equipment and products of Verizon Telematics. The person will also have responsibliities in the areas of Automation, Risk Management, Process Re-engineering and improvement, interfacing with both Development and Manafacturing.
Provide strong leadership and oversight on overall software certification and test planning processes. Be the "voice of quality" within the Verizon Telematics IT organization.
Lead and direct functional testing managers/leads responsible for test design, scheduling, installation, test execution, and reporting within a matrixed, program-oriented organization.
Lead test automation philosophy, process and execution for cost-efficient, quality software validation.
Define and apply consistent, "Best-Practices" approaches to testing processes to include leveraging ITIL frameworks, SDLC, and Lean/Six Sigma standards of quality.
Lead efforts in defining roles, responsibilities and subsequently train and hire strong, highly-effective Quality Assurance leaders and teams.
Develop accurate Resource Estimates and Test Plan Schedules in a matrixed, multi-functional, multi-program systems environment.
Acquire off-shore resources to support testing in China.
Qualifications
The Quality Director will need to provide the folllowing skills/experience:
Strong analytical skills
Proven ability to work with business and IT organizations to define/meet quality expectations, aligned to the Business and IT vision
At least 10 years in a testing/IT/Quality Assurance role
Experience planning and managing the QA budget to meet forecasted program and planning schedules
Proven leadership skills in a medium-sized IT organization with complex testing environment
Experience in defining QA processes, test plans, test cases, and related workflows
Experience reengineering processes and organization while addressing current backlog of testing responsibilities
Experience recruiting, interviewing and hiring Management-level Quality Assurance professionals
Experience managing QA staff of more than 80 Quality Assurance professionals
Experience working with multiple, simultaneous, large programs with fixed delivery dates
Experience/understanding of working within SDLC and ITIL frameworks
Experience using HP Quality Center or ALM or equivalent defect reporting tools
Experience using/implementing the use of test automation processes and toolsets
Experience managing off-shore/contracted test teams
Experience supporting 24-hour testing programs with world-wide communication challenges
Ability/experience communicating and reporting to C-Level management
Experience managing testing/validation/certification of internally-engineered hardware and firmware
Experience with Design Qualification, Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification and Performance Qualification process and concepts
Experience qualifying, quanitfying and mitigating risk in a devleopment environment
Proven abilities defining QA reporting standards to include defect aging, burndown and overall quality status
Strong, personable leader
Very Strong communication skills
FDA experience highly preferred
IT Experience a plus
