Strategic Commodity Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Develops and implements procurement and distribution strategies for multi-business unit gaming company. Provides strategic direction on assigned categories including analyzing market trends, benchmarking for best practice, assisting with specification development, identifying, qualifying, and recommending sources of supply that ensure lowest total cost of ownership and foster minority enterprise at the corporate and local regional levels. Drives strategic cost management requiring extensive cross-functional interface within the business units and corporate offices. Furnishes procurement analysis and cost data for planning, budgeting, and other functional duties. Insures best practices are shared between all Pinnacle properties; provides highly responsible and complex support to higher level management staff; and performs related tasks within area of assignment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Delivers superior internal and external guest service the Pinnacle Way by ensuring every interaction includes our PEAK Service Standards and work harmoniously with fellow team members.


Reviews, guides, and recommends the work of all corporate and property purchasing staff in the establishment of national or regional contract agreements and coordinates the acquiring of information to ensure that all contracts are executed according to corporate policies.


Researches and communicates with existing and potential vendors in order to cultivate working relationships and develop most advantageous price and service agreements; monitors vendors by assessing user satisfaction to assure best service and quality standards.


Advises and guides management in all company purchase decisions, such as price quotes and product quality to ensure the highest level of expertise pertaining to materials management.


Provide related strategic and cost-effective information to the Corporate VP of Strategic Sourcing, concerning negotiating corporate-wide national or regional contracts, and potential business impacts.


Serve as key contact for conflict resolution with supplier base.


Drive negotiation of contract and purchase order terms.


Communicate and coordinate with user departments in order to understand needs and anticipate and resolve issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and that procurement services meet the needs of the property.


Perform related duties as assigned by the Director.


Plans, directs, coordinates and reviews the work for planning team members; assigns work activities, projects and programs; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures; ensures guest service; meets with team members to identify and resolve problems.


Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates planning team members; provides team member training; works with team members to correct deficiencies; implements discipline as appropriate.


Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and innovations in the fields of analytics and workforce administration.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)


Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required. Six (6) years of direct applicable experience in strategic sourcing and procurement. Three (3) years of management and supervisory experience required. Complete knowledge of computerized inventory/procurement system. Complete knowledge establishing corporate national contracts.

Must have six (6) years’ experience working with one of the following commodities: Food and Beverage, Hotel /MRO, or Marketing/IT/extensive contract writing and negotiation.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

Possession of, and ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers and gaming license within assigned state of employment

Must successfully pass background check

Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

Must be twenty-one (21) years of age
