Description:


System Administrator with Active Secret Clearance


Duties and Responsibilities:


POSITION SUMMARY:


Provides integration and operational support to SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) programs and systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Support the operation and administration of GCCS-M systems and supporting systems.

Administer Linux, Solaris, and Windows operating systems.

Assess needs for system reconfiguration and perform if required.

Perform network and security audits as well as system backups.

Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions and access rights.

Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.


Reviews performance logs and monitors system performance.


Troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software and communications problems; creates shell programs and utility scripts; performs configurations and adjustments to enhance database file capacity; performs automated and manual backup and restore processes.


Installs, configures and tests software packages.


Provides user support and may conducts user software and hardware training to formulate technology solutions and ensure the effective safeguarding and sharing of enterprise data.


Evaluates requests for hardware and software; researches and recommends solutions to technology needs, compatible with the client’s technology architecture and infrastructure and resource constraints.


Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.


Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.


Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary.


Provides technical guidance to less experienced systems administrators.


Required Qualifications:

Desired three (3) years of demonstrated experience with Common PC Operating System Environment (COMPOSE) 3.0x, 3.5 and 4.0, and/or

Desired five (5) years of demonstrated experience with system administration skills in Oracle Solaris 8/10/11, Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, and Microsoft Windows XP/7and/or

Desired three (3) years demonstrated experience evaluating, analyzing, planning, designing, integrating, and testing of GCCS-M/J hardware. Specialized experience shall include the following: AN/USQ-153, 172, 183, 184, 187, and 208 Navy computer hardware systems.

Must have Security+ Certification and certifications or training in Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Windows 7, and/or Oracle Solaris 10/11.

Secret Clearance must be current and active.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and two to five years of related experience.
