The Sr Systems Engineer in the Windows Platform Team is responsible for overall support, implementation and maintaining standards for Windows Server platform technologies for the Company. Candidates must be proficient in Windows Server Operating Systems and related components such as DNS, Active Directory, etc. In addition, experience with a diverse set of 3rd party tools/applications including, but not limited to Citrix, backup, monitoring, antivirus, inventory management, deployment tools, and OS patching. Senior Systems Engineers must be able to manage project work, exhibiting strong time and project management skills. We are seeking an individual who can work independently with minimal supervision, can make a contribution to a diverse technical team and wants to assist the business units with adapting to new/updated hardware and software platforms.

Essential Weekly Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Work independently on tasks with minimal guidance.

• Manage technical projects for both application and infrastructure environments.

• Support enterprise environment with ~1400 Intel-based Windows 2003, 2008, and 20012 servers.

• Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.

• Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., service pack installations, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.

• Recommend/implement solutions to recurring tasks or problems.

• Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.

• Participate in post mortem process for incidents as appropriate.

• Stay current on industry trends and new technologies and recommend future initiatives.

• Evaluate and recommend process and technology improvements.

• Participate in rotating pager schedule (7x12 every few weeks)

Required Qualifications

• Customer centric attitude and ability to interact professionally with executive and non-executive staff.

• Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills.

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

• 8+ years related work experience required.

• In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (Server 2003, 2008) & Active Directory.

• Understanding of security concepts. (I.e., NTFS permissions, security auditing, etc)

• Knowledge of relevant Microsoft technologies including clustering, load balancing, IIS.

• Working knowledge of x86 Server hardware technologies especially IBM xSeries, HP Proliant and HP/IBM blades.

• Working knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies.

• Familiar with mainstream anti-virus, backup and patch management systems/enterprise monitoring

Consideration will be given to these additional skill sets / certifications.

• Citrix Presentation Manager or more recent XenApp

• Server virtualization experience.

• Microsoft SQL 2005 or later and Windows 2012

• Scripting/automation skills example: VB Script or Power Shell

• MCP/MCIT/MCxxx in the last 3 years.
