Engineering Manager

Responsible for managing, planning, evaluating and monitoring the Manufacturing Engineering function; ensuring that sustaining Engineering projects and Value Improvement Projects (VIPs) are scheduled according to priority and need and accomplished according to defined timetables. Provides engineering support services, serves as the companies source of technical expertise, ensures technical capability of the Engineering staff, and ensuring appropriate focus, prioritization, and execution of projects.



  • BS/BA in Business or Engineering; MS/MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years engineering experience

  • 5+ years management experience

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated decision making skills.

  • Ability to lead projects in a matrix structure.

  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and across the organization.

  • Adept at leading change, leading people and building coalitions in a demanding, dynamic environment.

  • Exhibits a high level of energy and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Performance Management Leadership and Coaching Skills.

  • Hands on Project Management experience (including experience in a leadership capacity).

  • Computer literacy in Minitab and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint.

  • Lean/Six Sigma experience

  • Prior experience in Operations, Program Management and/or Quality functions.

  • Responsible for following and ensuring that direct or indirect reports follow all GMP’s and SOP’s as defined by company policies, practices and procedures to ensure that the Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.) and ISO regulations and company quality standards are met.

  • Responsible for participating in short and long range planning to meet Company objectives.

  • Responsible for the development of the Manufacturing Engineering group in support of company's objectives.

  • Work closely with Value Steam Managers to provide Technical Leadership for the Manufacturing Engineers and assign projects in order of priority.

  • Work closely with Program Management to understand engineering support needs to ensure projects are completed on time, and on budget.

  • Develop and communicate project schedules, monitor, evaluate results and adjust project schedules for manufacturing engineers to ensure that goals are met in compliance with the needs of Manufacturing, Quality

  • Assurance and priorities and timetables.

  • Responsible for developing, in cooperation with Operations and Quality Assurance, improved processes to increase quality and reduce costs for providing services that support the Manufacturing needs.

  • Ensure that Manufacturing support needs are met at a level of quality that will support Manufacturing requirements.

  • Responsible for interacting with other department managers to solve problems and acts as a technical resource for problem solving.

  • Responsible for monitoring technical capabilities of reporting staff and encouraging them and insuring that they maintain an acceptable level of competency and technical knowledge and skills.

  • Responsible for ensuring capability in areas of technology to company business, including equipment and devices.

  • Works closely with customer and plant staff to drive changes and improvements that impact the bottom line results on Quality, Service, and Cost.

  • Some travel required.

  • Compensation up to $105K
