Product Manager

Rocky Mountain Region


Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.


As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.


Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.


The product manager in our team works on building and enhancing new systems management solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate for this position is a dynamic individual with a strong technical background with superb oral and written communication skills that can work with diverse audiences as well senior executives within and across the division. The product manager serves as the interface between Product Development and customer-facing teams & customers. Specific duties of this position include the following:

• Develop go-to-market strategy and plans for offerings

• Drive pricing and packaging proposals for products

• Gather requirements from customers, validate and prioritize the requirements, and write requirements documents to guide development

• Work closely with the development team on new features and enhancements to the database

• Write sales collateral that describe our technology such as white papers, success stories, data sheets, brochures, and product articles

• Evangelize Oracle technology internally (sales, business development) and externally (customers, partners, analysts)

• Present our technologies worldwide at Oracle conferences and users group meetings, trade shows, the customer visit center, and at customer sites

• Work with Sales and Marketing to improve the sale and adoption of our technology

• Track competitive product features and plans

• Plan and execute product announcements, and help coordinate beta testing of our technologies

• Drive internal and external adoption of our technologies

• Help build, coordinate, and maintain relationships with key customers

Desirable Skills

• Business and marketing acumen

• Strong technical background in systems, software, storage management, and/or database

• Demonstrated high intelligence and energy

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Confident presentation skills

• Hands-on experience as an administrator of IT systems (database, operating systems, storage) is desirable

• Flexible and adept at problem solving

• Strong project management skills

• Keen interest in performance analysis and capacity planning of databases and systems

• Degree/Major: BA/BS in technical or management field. MS, MBA desirable

• Experience: 3-7 years
