Quality Assurance Engineer - Kindle Fire SDK

The Kindle Fire SDK provides tools and documentation to help developers create applications which run on the Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire SDK team is looking for a passionate, results-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to drive the quality of tools for the Kindle Fire SDK. Candidates should understand software development for mobile devices, thrive in a fast-paced environment, be eager to take on new responsibilities, and have a track record of delivering high quality, mission critical systems. In this role you will work closely with the software development and product teams to deliver new Kindle experiences to the marketplace. You will collaborate with the product teams to deliver the best product with most efficient use of resources and technologies. Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem solving abilities.

The Role:



  • Create test plans and test cases.

  • Review user interfaces for conformity and functionality.

  • Efficiently execute test cases across all functional areas of our products.

  • Review product user interface for conformity to design guidelines.

  • Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through resolution.

  • Interpret and report testing results, and be a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of the development process.

  • Work with Software Development Engineers to understand the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented.


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 3+ years of Software QA testing experience.

  • Experienced in black and grey box functional testing.

  • Highly methodical test discipline, applicable to all product UI.

  • Demonstrate expertise in black box and grey box testing methodologies, experience with standard QA and development tools, and the ability to operate within short release cycles.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Product experience with consumer devices.

  • Hands-on experience in testing Linux-based devices

  • Solid understanding of QA tool development chains and environments.

  • Shows creativity and initiative to improve product coverage and effectiveness.

  • Flexibility, speed, and a passion for excellence

  • Experience creating apps and/or working in a developer-support position.
